  • Advice for newbie.

Hi, I have never been fishing from a boat before, and am keen to give it a try. I have moderate experience of shore/rock/pier fishing and all of my gear is suited to that.

My question is: can anyone recommend a boat/skipper to go out with first time where I can hire some decent gear and buy some bait. I would be on my own so looking for a friendly bunch to look after me and give advice. I live in the Durham area so anywhere from Tyne to Tees is within travelling distance for me. Looking forward to your advice.

Hi Soldierboy. Have a look through Charter Boat UK Charter Boats in Tyne and Wear for some inspiration.

Tony on Mistress out of the Tyne hires gear out and Allan on JFK Two may also. Both are good skippers with good boats and will look after you, and I'm sure some of the others would too.

if you haven't been on a boat before take some sea sickness tablets with you , just in case. nothing worse than that when everyone else is catching.

have you booked up yet mate? ive got a evening trip booked on predator on saturday 25th and there's spaces available if you want to tag along, i'll help you out as much as i can but i will have my daughter with me so i'll be keeping an eye on her. its a 4 hour trip leaving royal quays about 5 and returning about 9. your best doing a evening trip to see how you go as its a very long day if you go out all day and decide its not for you
