  • "Famous" Hartlepool 11th October

Little Dave Sabey, Paul and Hughie were in charge today, a bit blowy but in the right direction.
We waited for a party of 6 to arrive before we set off.
Coming towards the end of the seasonal Mackerel, proved exactly that, not many but after a few drifts here and there we managed enough for the bait anglers.

A very very slow start to the day, a few pouting and a couple of whiting until I managed the first codling to about 5lb, a start we thought.

It continued to fish rather hitty missy most of the day, but during spells it was good, some lovely Pollock came up with a nice fish to about 8lb by Dave and a couple on the other side of the boat to about 6-7lb.
Nice Coalfish came onboard as well, both Hughie and Dave taking fish to about 5lb.

I stuck at it all day with my trusted shads and took 10 fish in total, 9 Cod and 1 Ling, between 4 – 8lb and the ling about 8lb also.

Shaun and Iain on the other side of the boat took 4-5 fish to about 6lb all Cod, and a few other fish around the boat, mainly cod to about 8-9lb with Hughie taking probably the best Ling of the day to about 9lb.

The weather forecast went a little wrong and an easterly picked up for about an hour moving the boat around somewhat, but it calmed and the majority of the fish came in the afternoon session after high water, with fish on every drift which had started to become very quick indeed.

Overall, a decent day at the office, season coming to a close, but still maybe 1 or 2 trips left.

Sorry left Camera in the van.

    Tight lines
