At last first time i have managed to get out due to weather, work etc. Plan was to meet Jeff 01 Kayak, and Ian wild 321 and Keith at about 7am in hope of a few cod.
Got to car park about 6.30 and got setup fairly quickly and out to a lovely sea although with a slight roll on it.
I had planned to hit an inshore wreck that i had heard had been fishing well but decided to pick up a few mackies following reports from DT1 (dave) that the mackerel were literally jumping into the boats days earlier.
Sure enough we were into the mackerel fairly quickly with Jeff having a treble shot and myself getting one of the smallest mackerel i have ever caught.
Ian and Keith soon joined us with Keith steaming past off to one of his favourite marks, seen him paddle off in the distance, think about 10 mile as he kept going and going ;D ;D.
We decided to move further off for a bit and then i decided to paddle off over to the inshore wreck.
First drop and thought i had snagged but turned out to be a nice cod.
Then had a few more mackerel before it went a bit quiet and i had a few tackle losses.
I did not have the finder today due to a broken bracket but i think this is where they come into there own so you can see the rough ground / wreck and adjust as required.
Tackled up again and put on some lug and mussel and into another cod straight away. had a few more drifts and then decided to have a paddle back to the hole in the wall where DT1 was waiting, probably hoping for a dip in the surf but no chance of that today ;D ;D
Got packed up and as was leaving noticed jeff had landed on the beach, he called to say they had had some good cod out at keiths mark and I'm sure he will be on here shortly to let us know.
All in all just good to be out again with catching a few for the pot a bonus, the conditions were fantastic today as seen in a few pics taken
