  • jfk two nice weekend

    sunday 3rd april
another very canny day, today flat seas, no rain and eventually the sun got out.
    off round the wrecks again
picking up fish at almost every wreck we went to, occasionally 4-5 rods in together, probably
50 -50 cod and ling, again cod to about 8lbs and ling to 8-8.5lbs,
3or 4 Pollack, and latterly the compulsory catfish [wolfish] as we've had 6-7 cats on the last 3-4 outings.

Michael with 2 of the average cod

    paul with a average ling
gavin with one of his lings
ended up a cracking day with over 80 plus fish being taken, looking good especially as it is just into april, signs of another really good season ahead

Your boat looked awesome Allan out there today and what a great report, you put your customers right on the fish!! We could easily see your orange topside and white hull from 3nm away..

And thanks for kindly bypassing the wreck we were fishing, you showed great courtesy.

Last year another well known charter skipper steamed in at WOT directly to our position on a large wreck and turned quickly to port at the last minute, landing 20m off our bow and in front of our drift. Not forgotten, borderline dangerous.

So we're not the only one that's happened to. It's dangerous and poor seamanship and I know it's put some of his punters off chartering with him again.

Just to be clear, this wasn't Allan or the JFK.

Next time a call on ch16 to warn the approaching boat of the collision risk, may be helpful in case they genuinely haven't spotted you. It's also recorded by the coastguard and helps them build a picture of what's going on at sea.
