  • Loss of sonar picture

Has anyone else have the problem of, loosing the sonar picture when another boat with their sonar on comes close by. I was thinking it was just air bubbles getting under the transducer, but drifting over wreck when last out, another boat drifting by, knocked out my pic untill further from me, then pic returned to screen.

Sounds like Cross Talk between two systems perhaps on similar frequencies. We use a range of transducers at work for positional and distance sensing and they are easily confused if operated too close together.

Can you change frequency ? if so have a fiddle next time it happens.

happened once or twice with me Arthur especially with bigger boats maybe their system is more powerful than yours. Wasn't effected by any of the Tyne charter boats though.

What Jonny said is quite right try and change frequencies 50kz to 200kz etc and hope the other boat is not running a dual frequency sounder.
If you can go into your sets menu and change the transducer ping rate, that will also help- it did for me anyway.
        Hope this helps.
