  • Boat Pricing?

    Hi.

We are thinking of selling our boat now that we have done it all up, as we fancy something with an inboard engine and a cabin. I was wondering how much we should ask for our boat but I'm not sure how to price it? I have been trying to look online at boats for sale to compare with, but prices seem to vary wildly and sometimes it seems people are asking a fortune for an absolute wreck!

The boat we have is an 18 foot all fibre glass open top boat, with a 15hp Yamaha 2 stroke & a 5hp Seagull Silver Century Plus. We have spared no expense when restoring it (it was in need of a makeover when we bought it, but only cosmetic), and have used only the best paints inside & out (the same they use for the cranes in the North Sea), and all the metalwork (i.e. mooring points, eyelets round the boat) is all thick stainless steel, again the same gear used on cranes etc in the North Sea! It has thick marine ply floor which we have painted and put a strip of anti-slip down, and we have added seats and rod holders as well as a stainless transom plate. Also the underside has been freshly anti-fouled & has an attractive white 'go faster stripe' above it on the waterline!

It is in perfect condition and wants for nothing, whoever bought it could get a long life out of it before it needed any attention at all. So whilst I know how much has been spent on the boat and the time and detail etc. I still have no idea how much is a fair price to ask so I was wondering how people would normally price their boats? :s The Yamaha engine alone seems to go for £500+ on ebay, and it is reliable and well looked after, never let us down at all.

Any help or info would be greatly appreciated as I would hate to over or under-price her.

    All the best.

Well, after searching through all sorts of boat trading sites, me & the fella I own the boat with came up with a price and it is now on Gumtree to put the feelers out. I feel I have put the price rather high, but only because other boats which have had less work / needed work were going for the same or much more. I would accept less of course, but I'd rather put it a little higher and wait for offers than not take the chance.

Be a shame to see her go, but Im sure whatever boat we get next will be another good project to work on and I am just sick and knackered of carrying 2 outboards around and up harbour walls! haha!

p.s. if anyone is interested then PM me with an offer, you never know!

Oh, and thought I would mention, I dont know the exact make of the boat but it looks alot like a Sea King Cornish fishing boat in terms of the style of the hull, especially the underside of the boat. Any other opinions greatly received though!

      Cheers.

looks very much like either a plymouth pilot 18 ft or a cygnus 18ft

        both very good sea boats,
have a look to see if there is anything on the above 2 makes you could compare prices to
