  • Shads??

Right, first boat trip out in six years tomorrow!

How do I fish one of these 'Shads'? Im thinking very simply with mainline to a three way swivel, snap link to sinker on bottom and a 3-4' trace to the Shad, wind up a couple of turns and bump it along?? Got myself some white and blue ones!!!

    Cheers

Just keep it as close to the bottom as you can without snagging up , touch and lift , let us know how you get on

Cheers Lads, took one keeper in the end, a good one at though, bang on 7 lbs on a blue Shad! This was my first on this method and a great way of fishing! I had nothing on Daylights, Hokkais and the white shads, but a few undersize on peeler/lug!

          First time out with shads

I went out for the day recently off Whitby and fished shads all day. I used 4" berkley hollow bellys on a 28g jighead and they seemed to work well. I took a 3.5Lb cod within 10 minutes and took a few other through the day. All over 2lb due to larger shad. Nothing small at all. I mY try the 6" next time although I was wary and wondered if the scenting is as strong with plastic shads as with real baits.... It's a fun way to fish with lots of movement required for sure. Great article on here all about it. how's anyone else got on with shads??
