Ways to find wreck co-ordinates
Been a few on here asking for wreck co-ordinates up and down the coast , thing is there are a lot of wrecks out there and even more marked up on charts and chart plotters which are no longer there or if they are they are covered over or smashed to bits , the problem then is finding the ones that hold fish and are fishable. I doubt there are many skippers willing to just post the co-ordinates for their 6 favourite wrecks on a fishing site like this , it would be no fun going out the next calm sea and finding a dozen boats fishing them , so really it's a case of finding them for yourself.
You can simply go to each marked wreck in your plotter and see first of all if it is actually there , then try and get an idea of the size of it by motoring back and forth marking it up , then drop a line down to see if it is fishable or covered in nets and last but not least if there are actually any fish on it.
Or...... you can go to the divers websites and find a few co-ordinates from them , but they can be a bit sneaky and put them a bit off from where they actually are
Or...... you can try the wrecksite , pay the annual fee of about £25 or so and sit and sift through all the wrecks on the north east coast finding out where they are , how big they are, how deep they are , how high they stand from the sea bed, which direction they are lying , whether they are intact , inverted or upright, what they are called , how they came to be there, and just about anything else you'd like to know about them ........ apart from whether they hold any fish , that has to be done with a boat and a rod and line on the day you want to catch them
It's part of the fun of fishing , finding the fish , get your fees paid for the wrecksite and start doing your homework
