Does anybody ever fish the skeres off craster? I've drifted over them once or twice on my way to wrecks but never had a fish off them , they must hold fish sometimes surely

I was told, by the boat next to me, that they once caught 96 Cod in a single session there. The one and only time I went there it was inhabited by 50 seals so I had to turn round and head back in .... a totally fruitless journey and in my boat that was a lot of wasted time. The seals obviously think it's a good place to get a meal.

So I guess you could treat it like wreck fishing it sometimes pays off but there again ...

I was heading home from the boulmer area a couple of years back and motored past a huge herd of seals , pods of dolphins , hundreds of seagulls , gannets , everything all in one place going mental , it was late or I'd have investigated further , I reckon there must have been as much activity below the surface with fish as there was above , never seen anything like it since.

Are they the skeers 7 miles out, if so, used to fish them many years ago. We always did ok over them, but use to do better at 4 miles off Dunstanburgh castle.
