Plotters and Finders

Guys need some advice. I am going to treat myself at the end of the month to a new plotter/fishfinder and was wondering if you lot can advise on which is best. Yes I know this probably comes down to brand preference mostly but I will budget myself £1000 max (but may stretch further for a bell and whistles one ). I was looking at the Lowrance HDS or Raymarine A series but just don't know too much about them. Also my ancient Lowrance x85 currently has a 192KHz transducer so do I keep that Khz or drop down for a deeper one? Any recommendation would be great and appreciated.

At that budget you could possibly get two seperate units.
I like garmin chartplotters. A lot of people seem to recomend koden/furno fish finders.

Yeah Similar to Codfather ..... I have an old garmin 235 plotter as a spare but just got the new Garmin 565, its a plotter/sounder but I still use my Furono sounder all the time with a view to the garmin sounder bit being a standby.

better if you can separate the two that way you get two full size screens rather than a split screen or switching over.

I had seperate Raymarines on my last boat and have a garmin 750s touchscreen on my new boat , I wasn't at all sure about the garmin when I first started using it but I love it now that I've got used to it.
It's a split screen job , but I don't have any problems using it , the worst thing about it so far is seeing it in bright sunlight , it's pretty difficult
Otherwise , it's a great bit of kit and dead easy to use.

p.s. I've just spent a couple of hours on the boat , I had a look at the settigs on my plotter , it was set for night time viewing , no wonder it was difficult to see in sunlight , it's clear as a bell now.
