    This is the one I use;
Maxximus Solid Carbon GREEN (NEW) 7ft 20-50lb boat rod | eBay UK

Along with either an Abu 7000 or shimano tld 15.
I like the tld15 for it's smooth drag control and solidness but like the Abu 7000 for its lightness and level wind.

The Abu 7 is the budget version of the 7000. Fine to start off with but may not last as long as the 7000. Depends how much use your gonna give it I suppose.

This is the one we use:

      Fladen Maxximus Solid-C Boat Rods 6ft 6" - Ex-Display Special

It says 20/50lb so it can cope with almost anything but the rod tip is really small diameter.
      Cheers, Keith.

in answer to the 1lb weight question I would say that no it's not comfy using the uber thin rods with 1lb of lead...however with braid and lighter weights (10-12oz) I really don't think there's the need to fish with 1lb of lead

unless of course when you say deep water you're heading for Norway?
        Ooh a new vid!

Wasn't suggesting anyone buy from there, I was just saying that's the one we use.

The lad at Seaton Delaval who has an ebay shop, Flashtackle I think, does them for £55 but he won't let you collect so postage is £10, probably better off visiting your local tackle shop.
            Cheers, Keith.

crikey just hung a 12oz lead off it in the lounge - it's miles away from the reel

it's about 12 inches more than I'm used to that's for sure

is it 0315 (lie in this week - should catch the sunrise though) yet??

just to say that the new rod worked a treat - it didn't feel too long at all.

lovely lever for the pirks and feels very responsive with the shads

and handles the fish with ease
