On Sunday out from Seahouses my mate was hauling them out on white, whereas I had a few on Green.

I'm new to anything other than bait fishing from a boat so it came as a surprise to have Codling swallow shads fished static on the bottom snaplinked on a 2ft trace from the weight.

So far I have caught on blue and green yet to try other colors that i have.
I prefer blue they seem to be the best.

I honestly don't think it matters what colour the shads are unless you are fishing in shallow water , I've had a variety of different colours on and they all catch fish , I think it's their action that matters , as log as they have a seductive wiggle , they will pull .
I've seen some red head shads , they are white with a bight red head , in theory these should be real killers fished where the predators can see them (shallow water) , that colour combination is one of my favourites for hard bodied lures.

Orange did it for me on Monday, fishing in 190 feet of water, judging by the replies i don't think the cod are fussy, they will eat anything

So expanding this a little, is there a certain TYPE of shad that works best for you? I've never fished shad's before so not sure which, shoft plastic, hard plastic...

if they're feeding on small fish I reckon owt goes colour wise - agree with Raymondo on the action being as important as anything
