  • No let up

Well no let in the future guess work for the winds, been down the marina today and checked tingray, Wor lass, Slinky, Grace and that for the ropes etc since the wind was so strong last night it managed to snap two 8" square fence posts i had in half and rip off 3 tiles and the porch overhang, insurance job for £50 i am glad to say.

All boats fine but some are moving around about 6ft on the ropes, think some people will need a spot of paint when this wind is over, its blowing right around the marina.

Think it could be a full 4 days away to Whitby or Sctoland rather than fishing with this wind.

I actually live in Leeds, so its relatively calm here. I have to just go by what my folks are telling me and met office reports

need to find a new job back in god's country so i can get a nice little boat/kayak for myself. It doesn't really cut it fishing in the canals here

We find this site www.xcweather.co.uk the most reliable for planning fish trips.

Looking at the wind map for tomorrow, Wednesday, it looks ok at 8mph southerly for a quick macky bash session, so might give that a go. nearly six weeks since i've had "lazy daze out".

On the insurance claim Rich, you'll probably have an excess more than £50. The insurance companies have everyone by the short and curlies with excesses

Yer i just checked its £100 but still cheaper than doing it myself, bloody wind.worst May on record for me fishing wise and luck wise.

I had thought about Wed fishing with the widn being from the west most of today but the waves seem close together and with it turning a straight south i changed my mind, should be fine close in and small tides will help if that wind drops below gale force 10.

Let us know how you get on, the more i look at the wind the more i feel a weekend away at Whitby comming on.

Cheers Ritchie, I was thinking I should go and check. You’re right about the wind and weather, great for decorating and building up the brownie points, not so good for fishing. I wonder what it will be like for the Sunday comp.

This wind is a real pain in the butt and it looks set to keep blowing for quite a while yet. Her indoors is starting to get used to having me around and has started finding DIY jobs for me to do. Fishing is nearly impossible at any distance from the shore but I have an idea that might just work and get me out of painting etc.
The situations desperate and I'm seriously thinking about dropping anchor in the shelter of the Tynemouth priory cliffs and fishing for plaice on the sandbanks off the north pier. I've caught Plaice there before and I've also heard that some decent Pollack can be caught with a spinning rod from the rocky ground close to the pier.
Hey Richie, appreciate you checking my ropes cos I wasn't able to make it to the marina today, her indoors had me doing stuff.
