After a good start of the season with the abundance of cod a couple of us still wanted to wet a line in these Easterly winds! Travelling 15mile up river we launched at Newburn for the target species of flounder. (also hoping for a eel or two) Canny couple of hours with a few flounder over the 1lb mark and one eel.
Just shows, if there's a will, there's a way. Good on ya's not to be beeten, got your targeted species. There can't be many beads left from the bairns necklaces though
Brings back memories we used to catch flounders a couple of miles up river from there when we were kids , a place with sand banks and a sewerage pipe outlet into the river , had great fun catching them on coarse fishing rods and earthworms as bait , we used to fish the stretch you are on too , for dace and roach ...... happy days Thanks for the memories.
