It's not such a problem now that I've had a bit of practice coming in and out , but at first I thought I'd made a BIG mistake getting a bigger boat and fishing single handed. I've ordered a slave , I mean crew to aid with the berthing procedures and such and maybe I can teach him to use a camera , though that might be a bit of the blind leading the blind
Anyhoos , soon as this wind changes direction , me and my new crew will be having a run out so we'll see how much difference it makes going mob handed

Aye Ray, lots more space at Royale Quays rarely have a problem in or out, worst case is if theres a stiff SW wind then with a rudder and prop (as you'll no doubt know ) very little steering in reverse so sometimes have to turn full circle the opposite way with wind after reversing out ,,, but lots of room for full circle, usually make it in two or three bites.
Mind you its not the same story on the smaller berths the sub 20ft ones and even more so in the inward side of the walkway, It's quite a lot tighter there as its the quay wall behind you.

Hi Jester, I was down there today changing a fuel filter on Wor Lass, moored on pontoon just a few boats in from the wall. Give me a shout next time you pass and I’ll put the kettle on. Any distraction from the fuel filter would have been very welcome but that’s another storey.

You’re right there’s a comfortable amount of room on the main pontoons but the berths by the wall are a lot tighter. Richie does well with the close quarters manoeuvring without losing some gelcoat.

Plenty more where he came from Duncan , lol , he used to come out with me on both my previous boats and survived ,so he already has his sea legs , he's a canny lad and I like his company when I'm fishing so I've decided to take him with me when he wants to come along , he gets so excited when he gets a fish it's nearly as much fun watching him catch as it is catching myself.
He's under strict instruction to leave the biggest fish for the skipper though
            Meet Barny!

Ray, if you think Barney is highly excitable, you'll have to meet Big Tel, my deck boss. He doesn't sleep the night before we go fishing, like you say though i get as much pleasure watching him pull fish in.

Thanks for that Kev, it seemed very quiet when i was down there, i only saw a couple of lads on the top of the dock, i was stood next to the office where the gang plank is.....where abouts is everyone moored looking down from there, maybe someone clever could highlight a google map, so next time i'm through i can look for your boats....

Looking at it closer I think rich may be a couple of boats to the left (almost out of shot) but you get the area anyway ....

Thanks for that Norman, now i know where i can get a cuppa when i call down the Quays .
I'm surprised i didn't spot Stingray, but the old mince pies aren't as good as they used to be.
I was thinking about the freezing over durind the winter, and it's a vast area of water to freeze, much bigger than the pics portrayed. But it still looks a very nice marina, if i'd been closer i would have been in there.

The in-laws are visiting us this weekend so we took the M-in-L up the river by boat to the quayside market. I didn’t get much for her there, but came home with some bits from the stalls including a scorcher bottle of chilli sauce. mmm

The sea’s dropped off a lot through the day and looked a lot calmer tonight. A trip out tomorrow is a possibility, otherwise there are leads to be made. Just the usual bank holiday routine.
