  • Fish finder

Just after your opinions lads, after reading loads of reviews on the net. Since i dont have nay new rigs, lures, rods or reels to try this year i think i may invest in a new fish finder as mine is a very old one.

I am looking for something no more than a 6" screen and in colour and i am nt a fan of the split screen ones so a stand alone fish finder only. I have a few i like but always good to get an opinion, willing to pay upto £600 for one.

Any opinions of what you would get or using now, make n model would be a help when choosing one.

hi richy i have the lowrance mark 5 x and i can not fault it, mine is black and white but the resolution is great as well as the screen size, and it was very easy to fit.

I have a Lowrance HDS 5x on my warrior kitted with a Airmar P66 transducer, excellent stand alone colour sounder. Would reccommend..

The Raymarine ds500x or ds600x would be my choice , I had Raymarine plotter and finder on my last boat and have a garmin on the new one , so far I like the Raymarine better.

              600 quid...

koden without a doubt. proper professional bit of kit. CV126 is about that price

pretty much every commercial boat will only look at top end furuno or koden sounders. lowrance/gramin etc don't even get a second glance

that says a huge amount IMHO

Some people are like slinkies - not really good for anything but bring a smile to your face when thrown down the stairs

Converting an MFV Fifie trawler type thing.

Have to agree with Norman and Mark, Furuno is the first choice for the commercial boys - enough said !!!!!!. Its the same old saying though, you only get what you pay for!!!!!.

daft as it sounds thats how it used to be done.

Somewhere in the shed I've got a feeling line that came of an old herring drifter. bits of tin every fathom, dropped over the side and feel for the bumps
