  • Servicing of Shimano reels

Does anyone know of a shop or a person who can service/reapir a Shimano reel?

I have always done my own but with the Shmano Torsa 20 i just cant seem to get it running right as its making a noise and abit notchy, bearings all seem fine thou, all 8 of them, so may need someone who has abit more experiance of the workings.

On a £500 reel I would want the manufacturer to do it, then you know it has been done right, you can insure your parcel using many couriers and some will insure up to 500 for only a fiver. If shimano then send it back and it gets lost they replace it with a brand new one FOC!

Have to agree totally with this, this is the UK factory and service centre, the Shimano engineers have the correct tools and know how to strip and repair and replace parts on all their models.

As for sending,we sent technium mgs to them in broken bits, come back as new, sent special delivary post office tracked signed for and insured £1000 the value, cost 12pound.

Would nt trust anyone bar the makers with a top end specialist reel, even myself and lve serviced my own standard reels for a long long time.

                      Thanks for the replys lads.

I was too tight and ended up doing it myself, decide i would try first and if the many springs, washers and 8x bearings all went back ok then great if not i would send it away to Shimano

As it happened i needed 2x spool bearings and 1x drag bearing at a cost of £17, runs like a dream now and replaced the 3 rusted bearings with better quality stainless bearings so should last longer.
