Boat rod go bye bye

Bought a new 20lb class boat rod today (mustard vicking) looked a good rod and fitted my bill, i.e 8ft, 20lb class, strong eyes, good butt fixing with well placed grips.

Anyway put a reel on and hung a 10oz lead from the end of the line and the first 7 eyes went one way and the last 2 eyes went the other...followed by a snap.No idea why this happened, good job i tested it in the house before taken it ont he boat.Took it back to the tackle shop and they have ordered a new one for me.Hope its better than the last, mind it must have been a blank fault as i have nver seen a rod twist on it\'s self before.

strange, ..... at least your getting it replaced haha if it had been on the boat then I bet it would have been down to a WHOPPER getting away LOL all the best mate see you soon no doubt.

Friday looks the best day of the week Dave (by forcast anyway) so willhave to see how it goes. Beem to boatthis morning and gave all rods and reels a rub down with WD40 cloth (hope you dont mind IanW LOL) I suggest if the weathers not good and you dont make it up here at the weekend you get some local crew member to do the same Dave (if your spare keys at at marina office that is), not bad but certainly signs of condensation appearing.

No Ian doesn\'t mind at all and seemed quite taken at the idea of having his rod rubbed with wd40 and a Jay Cloth.....

Well instead of getting the other mustard rod, i spotted a shimano 15-20lb class rod and with alittle extra cash i bought that instead.Looks a great rod just hope it\'s nt that long before it gets tested out

i caught your dads rod in ireland a few year ago

he wasnt paying attension to his rod and it leapt out of his hand when he got a bite
