  • Seaham Marina update 22/2/11

Popped along today to have a look how they were getting on. Spoke to Norman Conn, the marina has approx 1.2 metres of water in at the moment and a wagon turned up as we were talking with some of the pontoons on board.
I stayed around the area for a little while, they also had a seperate company in to begin working on the pontoon installation.
i took this photo of the crane lowering the boat they will be using to aid the installation into the water.
Was told the gates would be arriving next week sometime and the scheduled completion date is still on for mid/late april.

                      marina

I emailed them 3 or 4 weeks ago to there info web site, but they couldn't answer my questions.
What max draft of vessels can be catered for.my draft is 1.6mts.
What max length of craft can pontoons hold....34.5ft
Entry times and height over sill.
They seem a little vague at the moment.
Maybe try again when its up n running.

between 1 and 1.3 metres will be the low water depth , i dont think it will not be as high as 1.5 as it would mean longer waiting times when gates are closed.
They are some boats at 10m to go in, so i wouldnt imagine length to be much of an issue.
Entry times would depend completly on the size of the tide, on the biggest tides there could be a wait of 4-5 hours between gates opening and closing, on the smallest maybe only an hour either side.
