You'll not go back to trebles after using them Norm. When you have a fish on you can feel it more as the lure hangs free and the line goes directly to the rod.I use a slightly different variation of a single heavier cord (not doubled) and a barrel swivel instead of ring.Ditch the trebles and save on lead!

Excellent read lads. I have often wondered what it would be like just using an assist hook on the jigger. I,m sick to death of using trbles on heavy jigs and snagging up losing the lot.
Going to buy another couple and use assist hooks only--see what happens.

                  Mick.

aye Mick , LK, it does seem a bit unusual not having a treble on the end to catch the wreck ... but ..... we'll just have to give it a go and see what happens .......
of course with no treble you'll have to rely on the fish coming to you instead of just yarking it off the bottom by the tail

icidentally the "speed jig rings" at that Ocean Tackle site have sold out...not due to me BTW...already have moved onto a large swivel alternative - just waiting for the next parcel from the posty to come through for the next batch of hooks to hit the assembly line

Well guys I've had a good read of this thread, at first I didn't have a clue what you were all talking about. Now I think I have the general idea. I've got two weeks to knock up some for myself. Fingers crossed. Cheers
