Spot on Tone, looking good mate .........

I still find it hard to take with no treble on the bottom so I might just try a few ... maybe just a small 5/0 treble

means I bought the solid rings

once we start losing them regularly it'll be straight onto the cheaper (swivelly) alternative

More colour variation there Norman , i agree with Tony, neutral white might be better if fishing down Sunderland way....

however, maybe the black and white may help a little provocation .....

been giving this "assist hook" some thought ........
obviously it works else there wouldn't be the history and use of it, however I think the views that it attracts fish at the opposite end of the pirk is maybe not quite correct......
In my oppinion (IMHO) maybe this hook takes when the cod (or ling) strike dead side on to the prey fish (pirk), lets be honest from a hungry cods point of view taking from behind or from the front would reguire a full mouth swallow, however from the side would just require a "Big Bite", exactly the right shape of the mouth. think on how many fish may have been lost to norweigien pirks if the cod had struck the middle of the lead and ignored the ends ............ (probably still add a treble on some of them just in case )

hence rig the assist half way down the pirk ........

Dont suppose a cod is fussy which way it attacks a fish, front, rear or side....but i do think by using assist hooks you are upping the odds of hooking it ....i'm off into the garage now to find my cordolene string line (white) and octopus hooks, where do you get the shrink tube from Norman, and what size is it ?
