Just been to Poole in Dorset on board "True Blue" owned and skippered by Steve Porter.
Steve tried his best to put us onto different species throughout the day and in all I think we had about 11 species on board, including this beauty which was a new species for me.
It was totally different fishing to that in the North East.
This lovely small eyed ray was captured on sqiud and macky cocktail with a blue muppet rig. Ten minutes later I caught another on same rig downtiding about 100 feet back from the boat, certainly took some heaving in with those wings spread out and the tide pull. Only pleased the leader knotts held out.
If ever you are in that area I would deffinately recommend a day out on "True Blue" with Steve. Excellent skipper who knows his stuff and does his best to get you onto the right marks, plenty of cups of tea also, and toilet on board if needed.
Here's a link to Steve and "True Blue" if anyone wants it.
