  • New Boat Delivery Charge!

    Evening,

Just a quick one to see if anyone else had heard of a charge for getting a new boat dlivered to the dealer? My jaw hit the floor when I was informed that this would be £2600 and with a pre delivery inspection of £650 also to add on! Over three grand with bugger all to show for it in my opinion! It seems that things are conspiring against the new craft as that hit is too much to take for basically nothing! In addition Amble marina have reduced the maximum beam on the budget berth to 2.15m! Bloody Fantastic! Some of the boats we had ruled out are now back in the reckoning as most of the merry fishers and beneteau's are way over the 2.15m beam restriction. Going to re-visit the pilothouse 500 again as the beam is over but it ticks all the other boxes of enclosed wheelhouse, good fishing area, integral tank and speed with an 80 on the back, I have read a heap of reports on them and read about differing build quality but a lot of them seem to refer back to the fact that some people are expecting too much from a small under 6 metre boat. Hope you's all have a good New Year!

    Graham.

I would have thought once you have negotiated a price, that would be it. When you buy a new car you dont get charged seperate delivery from the factory to the dealer, thats calculated in the final price.
Buy a good s/hand one Graham, might be a lot less hassle..

Graham never heard so much rubbish in my life, if they go on like that doubt if they will sell many boats.

Aye Graham , it's not like buying a new drill from focus is it , X for the boat , y for the engine , z for the delivery , z again for another delivery , z again for a pdi , z again for this and z again for that ................. by the time you get to the actual cost of owning it, it's doubled from what they said it would cost.

            delivery

where the h--- is it coming from as for pdi would have thought the dealer would have done that any how, tell them to take a hike graham, they are a bunch of thieving gits keep ya money and keep the boat you got as for amble marina ive never heard(sheltered life)of such a load of -ollocks in my life.skinney boats costing less than fat boats, its discrimination against fat lets face it boats under 6 metres are only goin to have a limited beam.your not going to tell me a 6mtr boat will have a 5 mtr beam(unless its a raft

I have and paid it with the purchase of my new boat

this is how its done for the one that have said its all rubbish

The dealer in question will have quoted the bare boat price then the delivery the the pdi craneage etc etc

but if you look its just the way they do there business as when i got mine from them they were still over 1800 cheaper than the competition

all it is is the way they deal

they have the base price for the boat
then the price for shipment which the pay the manurfacturer
then there own fees for yard craneage i.e. removing the boat off the lorry which most have to hire a crane in then onto trailer or other lorry for transport
but they will heavily discoutn the base price of the boat but the others are been laid out so they cannot discount them

At the end of the day its all down to what you pay it will be a little way of paying less tax i bet but good for them if they offer a far better price

And as for that remark Allen if it is who i think it is they have sold more boats last year than any other dealer as they are the cheapest

Sean, When you agree a price, and leave a deposit, are the extra charges in with that price. Or are the extra charges are added on at a later date, which would be a bit sneaky.

I don't think it will be the latter, but i'm interested to know.

The whole price is the one at the latter

its just whilst been quoted they will say about the charges but like i said its all down to what you are actually paying

there is no sneakily added extras at all its just how they arrive at the final price

Wow! I could get a nearly new outboard for that amount. Go elswhere, there must be dealers gaging to get your hard earned cash without the rip off.
