  • Xmas eve marina...cold

Decided to give the shops a miss but never wnated to stay in and watch the normal films on xmas eve i.e zulu, home alone, gremlins, last xmas and so on so went down the marina to check the boat out and clean the ice off her.

Glad to say everyone was fine and walked past the other lads boats that all sat even in the water with little snow and ice on so all looking good.

Few pics of the ice, i could not break it with a 12oz lead on some line, it was solid.

I was down there a few days ago too. At the bottom of the bridge to the pontoons there is the metal rail which if you were daft enough you could use to hold on to for support and gently step onto the ice. It may have creaked a little and offered a threatening crack or two without breaking but I wouldn’t recommend it.

All the snow and ice along the coast at Whitley Bay is thawing rapidly, and I wonder how long to will take to clear the RQ.

Since i have been bed bound for 3 days with a cold/flu i pulled out some wrecking records from the last 2 seasons, with 2009 season starting with good numbers March the 17th but 2010 being much later at May the 15th mainly due to lock gate issue and weather thou.

Hoping for a 2009 season this year start date wise with a 2010 season fish size and numbers wise

Yer i have been stuck in bed since the 27th, back at work Tuesday but feel i will be on the sick for the 1st time in 11 years as walking to the toilet takes so much out of your body you sleep for 2 hours after it.

I she has served me well and a nice all round boat, lacking that extra speed but cheaper to run and never stops me going everywhere i wish.

The parents have a friend that has shown them how to make chip shop batter and written all the bits down, it now looks, tastes and smells like the stuff from the chip shop so i am under orders no 2-4lb cod go back this year.

Just been down to have a look and warm up the engine ...........

Not as thick I grant you and at least there are signs of it subsiding, but this is now the third consecutive month (end of November, all December and now the beginning of January) that we have been "Locked" in with Ice. Obviously no ones fault but fate, but I do look back to earlier in the year after just having paid my fees and being "Locked" in for 3 weeks in fine sunny conditions due to Lock repairs . . . . . . I still wonder if it could have been managed better ........

                      Tuesday December 28th

and Today, Monday Jan 3rd 2011

Here's hoping for some improvement soon ..........
