Well have myself, Marc, Dave and Rich seem to be up for this here is a few options based on 7th May Charter week for comparison.
Option 1 _ Charter Boat Option
Depart Newcastle on the Thurday 5th May over night to Kristiansands then spend the day around that area shore fishing to wet the appetite then slow overnight 300mile drive to Bergen pick up the boat for 7 days inclusive charter fishing. Leave the boat on the Saturday 14th for a slow drive back to Kristiansands for departure Sunday.
Cost £650 per person
Option 2 (the easy option)
Ferries as per option one. Stay in the Kristiansands area for 8 days with 2 boats included and optional charters for £40 pp a day. The brochure quotes \"You should expect more prolific fishing here than in the UK but do not expect the size of the Monsters caught in the norther norway centres. Main species Cod, Pollack, ling, coalfish and mackeral. The cod are in their best March to June.
Cost £330 per person.
Option 3(the monster cod option) - Rost Brygge.
Ferries as above but spend 1 day driving 900 miles to Bodo and get the ferry across to the Island. Quote from the brochure \"The island of Rost at the Southerm most end of the Loften Islands is some thing special. Accessed by ferry from Bodo, here is a world of Red painted sea houses, eagles, commorants and puffins where fishing boats chug amongst the sheltering skerries. There is superb fishing all year round with many good marks close to the properties. Spawning Cod fishing is at its best in April and May. A deap sea skippered boat can be chartered. Situated right on the waters edge the fishermans cottages can accomodate four to six people.\"
Then days drive back to Kristiansands for ferry back to Newcastle.
Cost £390pp with charters costing £46 per hour.
Option 4 - The Artic Option
This involves various Flight options to either Tromso or Alta. Now this seems to be big fish country and could be fun. Downside would be no car and therefore not alot of Duty free alchohol and also the 20kg baggage allowance.
Cost £500-£700pp depending on accomodation etc.
All four have their merits and problems please let me know. Rich I have looked at these due to there being charters available. Hope this wets the appetite enough so we can get together for a beer and discuss. :P :P :P :P :P :P :P :P :P :P :P :P
