it's probably the same for most of us, we all end up taking far too much but it's the fear of not having enough tackle or not the right lure that makes us do it. I used to take too much but slimmed down to essentials like weights and hooks etc. spare line and if wrecking then add 8-10 jiggers. I decided on a max size for my box and if it didn't go in there then it stayed at home. Just keep an eye on what you do and don't use and adjust as require d. Make a list and prioritise.•Secretary not permanent fixture until screwed on top of desk

if you want to go minimalist:
1 rod with a real attached and loaded with enough braid
1 spare reel, in case the first fails
25 snap svivels
10 sinkers (12oz or a mix of different weight depending on tide and depth)
100y of monofilament trace (i use 80lb)
10 shads 4inch different colours
10 single hooks or trebles (for flappers)
5 pre-tied muppets or hokkais
2 mackerel systems
a piece of cloth to clean your hands
scissors (to cut line)
pliers (to remove hooks)
a bait knife or filleting knife
a bag for your catch
that should do
if you go with a pal, try not to take everything double apart from rod, reel, sinkers, svivels
always take precautions for seasickness and weather. Even if it looks really nice ALWAYS take waterproofs with you. Getting wet and/or cold is miserable

try and go to the bog before you set off , you don't want to carry that with you.•Secretary not permanent fixture until screwed on top of desk

have stared slimming down a bit this year, getting too old to carry stuff ha ha.
the one that irritate me are the two or even three rod brigade fair enough if you on private boat, but a charter where space is at a premium in most cases crazyAUDENTES FORTUNA JUVAT

I don't like this Wasabi approach, too planned and professional. This will be much more entertaining:-
5 carling night before
5 vodka night before
Curry 2am night before
T shirt and Shorts
A light spin rod
1 set mackerel feathers
8 size 5/0 hooks
8 x 3 oz leads
drop Mackie flapper over edge on 5/0 and 3oz
Haul up fish by hand
Throw up regularlyLast edited by Jimbob; 15-08-2015, 08:52 PM.PB Boat Ling 24lb
