  • Wilson Flyer - any good ?

I'm a bit of a lurker on here, read a lot and say very little.

I have a small boat on the west coast of Scotand, a place called Girvan and was thinking of buying another boat to keep down here.
I like the look of the Wilson Flyers 17ft. They seem resonable prices for a boat that looks substantial enough for a couple of people to fish from.

Thought I would ask the question to see if any one had any experience of them.

    Cheers Alan

They look pretty good and as they are often mentioned on fishing forums I guess must live up to their looks. Have you seen the thread currently on WSF about them?

I've found two problems with the wilson, a low freeboard means that if it's getting a bit choppy I personally don't always feel that safe knowing the sides of the boat are about my knee level.. and I'm a short ass!

The only other thing you might need is a windshield .. mainly to just keep the wind / rain off your face when scooting along.

Other than those 2 things (well 1 main one) they are good boats, little boats but plenty of deck space.
