  • Braid

I have never tried braid but heard good things about it. There are many different types but which is best for wrecking & what strain. I know people have different preferences but i will go for the cheapest whether from the local shop, ebay or just a google.

    Thanks

I was talking about the same thing mate (Link) and I think the general consensus on this forum is 55lb dynon 3000 is the proverbial K9 love blobs! I'm going to get some this week and hopefully try it this weekend (weather permitting).

I have just really started using braid this year for boat fishing. After using mono you will be suprised how you can feel all the little knocks and some big ones hopefully. Berkley whiplash 45lb .15mm is what I use but it is a bit expensive, around £23 for 300yd. I could probably do with upping the poundage a bit .

Seen this on Fleabay DACRON FLUORO BRAID 500M 50 LB BREAKING STRAIN on eBay (end time 09-Sep-10 12:55:59 BST)

Seems quite cheap, I am tempted to give it a shot, probably can't be worse than mono.

Everyone has their favourite braid, but after trying a couple of different brands, I will now only use spiderwire stealth code red in 30lb, use this for kayak fishing, boat fishing and spinning/plugging. Comes off the reel like silk, well priced as well

Well I've just got myself some Tigrex 60Lb 0.30mm Dyneema. What size leader do you think I should put on the front (30lb mono about 12ft)?

ive been using dynon 50lb which has excellent abrasive qualities, made the change about 4 months ago and not looked back, the feel is second to none even when fishing at 250ft.

one thing to keep in mind when using this strength line is not to use your multiplier to get out of a snag, use a bar or stick wrapped round to take the strain of rod and reel, i use flourocarbon hook link 30lb with it so if anything is gonna break its gonna be the hook link.

Well a nice combo as i expected, I have heard a bit about the Dynon but nowhere has it on 300yd or longer spools.

Johnny_s, I wouldn't recommend getting that off Ebay, my mate went for that & it is thick. It is nothing like the pic. I know braid is braided fine string or whatever but this stuff is not much different than string & not coated like what i have seen lads use on the boats

I got some Berkley whiplash 50lb braid, what a total load of crap, took it off after a couple of trips and binned it, yet i love the fireline from them.

Found with a quick google but I haven't used that site myself.

As Steve said earlier £18 in ID fishing (Byker) if you can get there.
                              Cheers, Keith.
