  • Isle of White

Well i have been away to the Cowes festival at the Isle of White all week and it was something special, what a cracking area with loads to do and see but made better as it was between 20-24 all week with only 1 shower.

Anyway fishing wise i never did any but had a trip around the nab tower and could see the fishing boats pulling in mackerel and what looked like tope, had a walk along the pier at Sandown and the bass being caught would ahve made oour yera if we caught one along with the odd flattie and wrasse.

Had a trip down the fishing town and watched them unload the catch in the morning, sun fish, bass, sea trout, bream and cod made up the boxes.

Cracking spot in the UK and well worth a look but the boat prices alot so bring money if you wish a charter for the fishing.

Will load a few pics of the nab tower from sea and that later.

Roll on Sunday fishing on Stingray if i can still remember how to fish after not wetting a line for almost 2 weeks

Glad the weather was kind. Remember a holiday down there as a kid, I was fishing on a beach near the needles and I caught a bass of around 4lb. Only one I have ever kept. I remember seeing a lot of wrasse being caught and I am sure the water was a lot warmer down there than the north sea.

    Missed your reports

Is the tackle shop still in Cowes - was 1989 when I was there on holiday, had some gear with me so went in for bait - owners were from Whitley originally!

Yes Cowes and Ventnor has a tackle shop, loads fishing down there but the gear not cheap and you have to pay to fish any of the piers.

        £2.50 per rod per day

May Not Be A Bad Idea. Paying To Fish A Pier Would Bring Revenue In For Whatever Authority. Could Possibilly Put Off The Wrong Type Of Angler ( You Know Who)Fishing The Piers? Might Help To Clean Up The Piers?Job/s Created (Your Going To Need Someone To Take In The Cash).
Nothing makes a fish bigger than almost being caught
