Still learning and testing the waters we had another trip on Greggs new boat out of Beadnell harbour on Saturday. As Gregg's getting used to how the boat handles, we aren't venturing too far from safe harbour, and the Newton bouy just a mile off was where we again headed to.

This time we took along spinning rods and small Wildeye Storm shads very kindly donated by Paul Longstaff, thanks Paul they worked a treat.

A Storm shad dropped to the bottom and wound up slowly was very succesful today and I'll certainly be putting in a large order to Storm after this session.

We took along "normal boat gear" to baited with crab but lure of the day was the shad which easily outfished everything else.

Gregg into a nice eating size Codling.

Although the fishing was slightly slower than last week, we soon lost count of the fish coming aboard, mainly Codling in the 2lb to 4lb bracket which on the spinning gear put up a great account of themselves.

Best of the day at 4lb 8 ounce which fell to a shad.

We would love a nice Wrasse or two on the boat but they are hard to come by at the moment, Gregg did manage one though on peeler crab.

Bending into another Codling on the light gear, fantastic fun!

Most fish went back again today, with one or two kept for fish supper.

Only the two of us fishing today with around 50 Codling, a few Coalies, Mackeral, a Wrasse and a small Ling caught. Next time I think we'll be leaving the heavy boat gear at home in favour of the much lighter and much better fun, shadding gear. Tightlines, David.

Well done JV & Gregg, looks like good fun on the light gear, but could be hard going with a doubler on.

Yip the shads were deffo doing the business but the spinner was also deadly.

Thanks for putting the report up again Dave

Plenty of fish but when we found the better stamp of fish we soon lost then again as the drift became faster and faster.
Best shore caught fish:- Pollock 6lb+ Beadnell, 9lb 8oz Cod Blyth Beach
