  • Boat Reel problem

    I have a old Mitchell boat reel ,but its still in great condition ,the problem is sometimes when you turn the handle the spool does not turn ,I had it in ID FISHING in Shields a few years ago and they said they had fixed it but it still has the same problem and Ideas on how to fix it

    Just a guess but the gears prob worn, if thats the case...time for a new one.

    If it happens more when under load then i would say it was this issue, lots of good cheap reels out there now for boats so not the end of the world.

      The older Mitchell boat reels were or still are great reels, I had a 624 for years.

      But like all good things their time does come, time for a burial at sea

        If it's the Mitchell 624, loosen all the outside screws and just lightly twist the reel a little, then re-tighten all the screws. Quite often thats all it takes.
