  • Frasers open boat competition

Tickets for the Frasers Open Boat Competition being held on Sunday 27th June will be in the shops from this weekend onward. The competition is open to all boats, both private and charter. Boats may fish from any port they wish, but must weigh in between 4.00 pm and 5.30 pm at the Royal Quays Marina, North Shields. Tickets will also be available from 7.00 am on the day of the competition at the Royal Quays Marina. This is a Heaviest Single Fish Match. Entry is £10 all classes, with fishing from 8.00 am to 4.00 pm. There are two categories - one for boats UNDER 20 fT. and the other for boats OVER 20 ft. The first three HSF in each category will take a percentage of the entry monies. There will also be an excellent supporting prize list. There will be special prize for the heaviest fish taken from a kayak. For further details, contact Frasers Angling, Gateshead on 0191-4775950 or myself on 0191-5184561

    Anyone fishing this?
I have got my tickets ready. I was planning to go out alone, as I have never had anyone else on my boat and I imagine it will be a little cramped. After I had bought the ticket and was reading the rules I found you have to have someone with you, so luckily my mate is going to fish it aswell.
I am kind of looking forward to getting out with someone now, but we will see if we are still mates by the end of the day...
I was wondering how busy the slipways get, as I launch in Sunderland, so on th eoff chance I catch something worth weighing in, I imagine I will have to wrap up early to get to North Shields.
Anyone know how busy the slips get?
    Cheers,
    Geoff

I dont really like boat comps and dont often fish them as i feel it spoils the day as "I" alwats feel under pressure to find the fish rather than have a lazy day at sea. If the weather is spot on then i will fish my 1st boat comp in ages.

Good luck to everyone that go's

nothing to stop you having a lazy day, no need to feel under pressure at all, just take it as it comes, you might win, you might not.

As I am doing the weigh in I am open to any attempt to buy my services

Not been many doubles this year from Tyne and Wear ports, private boats at least, Royal Quays big fish comp stands at only 14lb..this time last year i was knocked off the top with a 18+ cod by a 22lb ling.

The weather is so far looking good, light se/sw wind sea smooth or slight and warm.

                Alan,

Bring a telly down so we can watch the second half and you can have all my catch (admittedly might not be much )
                Cheers, Keith.
