  • Which antifoul?

Im going to lift my boat out for a week at he end of the month for a service and whilst out im going to antifoul.
Is there any specific antifoul i need for a grp boat that does in excess of 20 knots?

Also how much would i require for a 14 foot boat ?

You'll want the self polishing stuff.

I would guess a 2.5L tin would do your boat twice.
    Cheers, Keith.

I always use Blakes Tiger (now called "cruising performer")

Blakes antifouling - Tiger Xtra - Cruising - Racing

I get 2 coats on 21 ft boat from a 2.5L tin and have about 1" left in the bottom of can. its about £50 per 2.5ltr. I`ve re antifouled now about 5 or 6 times and never had to use any primer, just jet wash down, leave to dry out then brush off any loose bits and roll straight on.

      cheers

This year I went for some Jotun stuff, not cheap but supposed to last about 3 years.
Have to wait and find out if it does tho !!!, not expecting it to but if it last 2 years I'll be happy.

If you've already got antifoul on and not sure what it is then your supposed to put a primer coat on to act as a barrier before the fresh antifoul, incase they react with each other.

As Keith says 2.5 ltr should do you. Nasty stuff antifoul, so no dipping your sarnies in it lol.

Goes on nice with a little roller.

My boat has never been antifouled before its the original gelcoat, so you think it would be best to use a primer first, last thing i want is to have to do it all again.
