Hi all bieng a shore fisherman for years i decided it was time to venture out on a charter boat trip and leaving from the tyne on the mistress we headed out about a mile and i was feathering for mackeral and caught 5 and pirking with feathers over a wreck which i didn't even get a bite but i still enjoyed it i was wondering about using bait and artificial eels and such just downtiding i have searched the forums and the net and all my issues of sea angler and total sea fishing mags about it and nothing just techniques form around other coasts nothing about the north east so i was just asking you guys for some help
    thanks all

You could try bigger daylites baited with chunks of mackeral or squid or a flowing trace with half a fillet of mackeral on an 8/0 hook.
    Cheers, Keith.
