  • Boat fishing competition finishing time!!!

Chaps. When the idea of a NESA boat fishing competition was first mooted and quickly supported by the membership, the proposed finishing time was stated as 4pm (page two of the forum) and that's what I told my crew. I've now noticed that the weigh in is stated to be 2.30-3.0 at the very latest.
In my opinion, 2.30 is way too early a finishing time. What's the consensus?

I thought the premise of the comp was for "fun" and not to be taken too seriously...

Conversely there are a few early birds who won't be taking part due to it being "too late" and likewise there are some who will think that even an 0800 start is "early"

it's all about the craic at the end of the day and hopefully meeting up with a few new faces from the boating community which is what this forum is all about

looking forward to it - especially as the tigers seem to have turned up during this settled spell
      Ooh a new vid!

No doubt about it 08:00 on a Saturday morning is definitely early. 14:30 finish time looks good to me. Well done Norman for organising this.

Hey guys, what makes you think I'm not viewing the comp as fun or being too serious? On the contrary, I feel regular boat "events" are a very good thing, I just think the comp is finishing too early because fishing is good fun.

Aye drifter, understand your views (Slinky Kates average trip is 10-12hrs) but tried to keep this (as with previous fun comps) to the less tiresome lines to attract maybe those that would not normally do a full days comp.
What I think it does show is that theres room for more comps on different levels, maybe an all dayer 4 till 4 comp for the more hardy fishermen ... later maybe

confucious say, you can't please them all

and just think of the weigh master having to sleep in till around ten, having a lazy breakfast and then having to be at the Royal Quays for about two. Would rather be out there with you lads though.
