  • Fair repair bill for outboard?

Took my dads outboard to get fixed today & new piston is needed, stripped down & shown the obvious damage.

Just wondering if £350 is a good price for parts & fitting?

Outboard is an old 1987 Johnson 60hp, pick it back up in a few days & cant wait to get back out in the water!

I suppose you think of a car repair price add the word "marine" and automatically multiply by four.

If it gets you back fishing - Bargain!!!
    Cheers, Keith.

Unfortunately, I have to agree with keith (not that agreeing with keith is any problem ) just as he says if it gets you back and its safe and fixed then its a bargain ........... bearing in ming the cost of a replacement 60HP Outboard , must be approx 6K£

good luck mate, I`m sure it'll be fine

Sounds about right. Running a boat is like digging a hole in the North sea, then throwing money into it.

If anybody ever asks you what your boat runs on tell them 20 pound notes

Your not wrong, i just had a few things done seals and as stated above..if a car had them parts on you would get them for a few quid but because its marine just pick a number double it then add a zero
