Yes it is a shame but its not a easy game, the wetaher takes a large number of days off them then if the fish dont bite (cant do anything about that) you have unhappy punters and with fishing becoming harder and the price of fuel going up it makes it a harder game than ever to make a living off.

Mind i would say due to the lack of fish on land it would be a good year for any groups of anglers to have a dabble on a charter and see if they can make up for winters night on the rocks.

With hire of rod and reel it means a few bits n bobs terminal tackle and catch your own bait (mackerel) and it is still only a few quid more than a footie match and a pint.

Good luck to him whatever he does next.

Its a queer old game is chartering. My boat is fully compliant with COP 60 which is unbelievably rigorous. My boat has top notch life rafts and procedures which make her one of the safest vessels in the UK.

I employ pro skippers and charge anglers £40 for a 10 hour charter.

I have £3m insurance for parties.

Some anglers ring and say I am too expensive. They know a bloke who can take them out for half the price.

They would rather risk their lives to save £20 per day (£2 per hour)

        Go figure.
