Abu Ezualizer £28 for 12lb class and 20lb class, never been looked after from new and still as good as the day i got it, had years landed fish of 40lb on it no bother, nice action cheap and robust..have 3 of them now

Same as the braid question everyone has there favs.

I have 2 rods worth over £200 each for boat fishing and not seen the water in a year so not always the best priced is the best rod imo

I like those too but think the 20/40 is a little too soft for bigger fish off the wrecks. This year, I'll try a 20/60 bought for a bargain price of that auction site. It still feels softer than a 20~30lb rod so we'll see how well it works.

My opinion is you need nothing more than a 20lb class rod from our shore and as stated above, my 8-12lb class rod has landed tope to 40lb, ling to 32lb and many cod 10-24lb with no problems, good setting on the reel drag and away you go..makes it more fun, i WILL NEVER buy anything over 20lb rating for wrecking again.

think mine is the 20-70lb...looks like it shouldn't cope with anything but is honestly a great rod

                    right tool

in my opinion for what its worth ,light rods , peasticks i call em ,

will loose you big fish ,its happened on my boat on numerous occasions,

its alright setting the drag so the fish can take line ,but they dont swim up

when they take line ,i,m talking about wrecking not ground fishing,

if i,d being useing light gear when icaught my pb cod i,d have lost it for sure

i had all on with it with a 50 lb uglystick and a reel to match ,23 lb fish

as you all know theres a lot bigger off our coast ,and just my opinion

but for sport you cant beat peasticks

                    tightlines lop

                      What a lob

As Tony says the carbon rods are rated 20lb to 60 or 70lb so you get the kind of fight Richy is after and still have the power for the bigger stuff.
                      Cheers, Keith.

You should not have said that i want Keith to leave me some fish out there.

Mind i can confirm Kieth has had some crackers over the years and i am sure he uses a light rod.

At the end of the day its what you like using and feel comfy with, i go very light because 99.9% of the fish i catch (cod/ling) or between 3lb-8lb and a broom stick and winch would make it less fun but when that big one comes along i know my light gear can handle a big fish and get it out the wreck, only fish i would not tackle on light gear from a wreck would be a conger.
