Noobie to this Boat Fishing Lark

Well I thought it was time I placed a post in the boat fishing forum, especially as next year I\'m hoping to be doing lots of boat fishing (well a friend has just treated himself to a boat and is planning on taking me out )

So as I need to get hold of a few bits a pieces thought I\'d ask the wealth of knowledge that is NESA about a new rod.

I\'ve treated myself to a Titus Gold TG-15 and now I need a rod that will go with it. Hopefully the sort of species I will be targeting will be Haddock, Cod, Ling, Conger, Halibut and Turbot maybe the odd skate if we\'re really lucky, oh and the odd Torsk apparently they show up around here every now and then, now I know thats a lot to ask for one rod but trying to keep the cost down as much as possible as I\'ve just changed jobs and had a big pay cut until next year when it should be back up again.

And then how about a complete set up for shark fishing rod/reel as this time next year we will hopefully be going after the porbeagle\'s that are very plentiful up here, any ideas would be gratefully received

I\'m sure to get stomped on for this, but I bought a fladen celtic and a fladen maxximus boat road from ebay earlier this year, a tenner and 25 quid respectively. The tenner rod probably wouldn\'t like big skate very much, but its rated 30-50lb, roller tip and for the money I reckon would be hard to beat as a cheap and cheeful get you out there rod.

LOL theres so much choice ...... , personally I use ugly stik, they have a broad spectrum light for mackeral up to heavy for wrecking, my favourite is the 20lbd it seems to fit all occasions ... mind you never got a tope on it ... let us know your final choice. good luck mate , good to hear from you again

It\'s good to be back just taken a bit of a back seat as I\'ve been busy with work and fishing so never seemed to have time to get back here. Managed to get my personal best Pollack and Cod from the shore up to 6lb for both, deep spinning jellyworms off the rocks just below our house so it\'s been good

With regards to the rod as you say there is just so much to choose from, I did pick up a Fladden Celtic 30/40lb rod earlier in the year so that I could go out on the charter boats up here and to be honest I can\'t fault it managed the cod and pollack fine although I think the reel which came with it is a bit of a dissapointment (a Fladden boatmaster 30gl) but for the odd use at £43 for both quite a nice starter kit.

The problem is that next year we plan to hit the boat fishing with a serious passion, though we want to target specific species we will also try and stock up the freezer (well hopefully) hence the new reel and as there will be me,Paula and our daughter going out every now and then need a complete extra kit (well thats the excuse I\'m giving Paula to let me buy the new rod and reel)

The one thing I have decided though after looking around is that it will have to be 2 rods one for the lighter fishing and one for the heavier - have seen a nice 80/120lb full roller boat rod which I think should do nicely for the shark fishing so might end up with another fladden for the lighter stuff
