  • "Cod on the Tyne" In Kayak

3 of us managed a launch today from the Tyne to avoid the Northerly swell which was forcast. Fished inbetween Tynemouth and outh Shields peirs although closer to Tynemouth. Launch area spot on at the small beach next to boat club.

Paddled a couple of hundred yards off dropped anchor straight into fish we managed around 12 cod 25-30 good size coalies flounder and lobster in a hectic 2 hour session. Fish mainly taken on crab and squid.

Quality pics mate, waiting for a spot of settled weather meself, for a bit of uptiding from the yak. Cold feet makes the winter sessions short and sweet for me, must get some better boots, what footwear do u use in winter?

Not bad at all i had 45mins fishing today 300 yards of Tynemouth pier and ended up with 1 codling, 2 pouting and 1 whiting.

Sea not that bad really but only headed out to warm the oil up.

Nice report but bet you were cold, my fingers had frozen after 10mins

Search for Ocean Kayak which is the make then depending on your size ie if your above 16-17 stone look for a big game prowler. If less the Prowler 13 is an excellent Kayak or the elite - scupper pro. The site i mentioned above always has kayaks for sale.

Theres always plenty of people to go out with.

Well i thought we would not get out this morning it was like pea soup when i left but it seemed to lift quickly, but it was only 2.5degrees and my hands and feet felt it, but as mick says we had a good couple of hours before this big n/e sea kicks in.
A few photos off me phone.

                            Just add water!

Go onto anglers afloat website you will get the pros cons on various footwear .This morn i was wearing a drysuit with socks inside and palm nova boots .Still felt a little cold hands and feet , probably to due to my age. Dave.
