Hi tony, Looking at the photo of the location of where the transducer is fitted, is directly inline with all the turbulance and bubbles from the gull wing that creates the lift at planing speeds forced under the boat with nowhere to go, other than to come out at the transome. Also, if the transducer is too low in the water, that itself causes drag and creates turbulance, so get the bottom of transducer just a mm or so bellow the hull bottom. I can also see you don't appear to have many options on location.
does the transome cable run along with the electric cable from the outboard, that can cause "noise"on the screen.P.B. Cod 30lb-11ozs Balcary.

Cable for transducer is separate from power supply, & battery is upfront, outboard unfortunately doesn't supply power to run things,
Bit of a pain as you've said for other mounting options, I did try moving it further away from engine but it was worse, as was moving it closer to engine

ok, looking at your picture I would say that it is set too low. The transducer should be level with the bottom of the hull and there should be minimum gap between the leading edge of the transducer and the hull otherwise it will create turbulence . I think you can buy a wedge to bridge the gap if needed. I am not an expert but it is just what I have read, apparently hummingbirds are noted for this problem , don't know what make yours is.•Secretary not permanent fixture until screwed on top of desk

It's a garmin echomap 50s
I might resort to my idea of making some sort of telescopic bracket so that I can adjust height until I get the best position.
The once that's found I can make a more permanent fix

I know, they can get you down, but don't let it beat you. It will look different tomorrow. Don't know if you looked at it while you were motoring , but there is something they call a roosters tail that appears if the transducer gap from the hull is too big. have you noticed it at all? also the transducer should be parallel to the water when on the plane otherwise it will actually be lower than the hull and create it's own turbulence so you should curl it up slightly to compensate.•Secretary not permanent fixture until screwed on top of desk

I havnt noticed this roosters tail thing,
I did adjust different angles with slight improvements but still not thrilled with the end result, maybe I'm expecting too much!!
Boat handles ok & goes like stink but the low transom has me paranoid! Was wanting to raise it to stop swamping which is usually an issue on a heavy sea or/and when throttling off, bilge pump sorts it ok but what if that fails!!!
Also want an outboard to charge my battery so I have constant vhf power plotter fish finder etc even though I take a spare battery & both are charged before setting off
The only disadvantage of selling up is this boat goes straight into my garage so it's always dry & secure & I can set it up ready to tow away without having to pack things in on the morning
