  • North East Sea Angling Show

Was at the North East Sea Angling Show on Sunday, was not what i expected to be honest, i thought there would of been more there but for 3 quid was still worth a look.
Got myself some 30lb Calcutter Ultra Braid 300yrds and he threw in a 4 pack of flashfoil split tails all for 20 pound and plenty of free interesting advice.
Am itching to try it out to feel the difference from mono lol.

Got to agree with you on that Tony. I switched to braid a few years ago and never use anything else now. Just wish they could produce one you could cast with using a multiplier for shore fishing.

Cheers lads am looking forward to using it might give it a go thurs if all stays to plan that is.
Mike you say "you wish they could produce one you could cast with using a multiplier for shore fishing" this does say on the ultra braid box that "a constantly round shape that prevents burring into itself and allows the line to be distributed evenly whether its used on a spinning or casting reel". thinking about it, the guy who sold me the line did say "that one of the main difference compared to other braid lines are that this ones round rather than flat with a teflon coat" apparently drops down and stays in a straighter line giving you a more positive feel as with the flatter braid tends to spyrel down.
Like i say alot of free interesting advice lol
Looking at the line i can't see why you couldn't cast with it,I did think about getting some for my spinning reel as this 30lb ultra braid looks like 8lb mono and it goes as low as 10lb braid which is the equivalent dia to 3lb mono.
        It's food for though Mike.

Have a look here Calcutta Ultra Braid | Sea Fishing and Sea Angling Online

I think I was chatting with you on the Calcutta stand when the owner demonstrated how to pull a wind loop out of his braid. This is the best gear I have seen. It is 7 strand ultra round teflon coated and is thinner than anything I've seen per breaking strain.

Youve made a good investment there I reckon.

Its definately worth thinking about. I will e-mail Andy at H.O.A and get his opinion on casting with it.
