Hi lads,
I am looking for any opinions for new set up when at anchor. (not uptiding because its fishing out of the back and side of the boat)
I have been using multipliers for years now, (Abu 8000C) when fishing at anchor.
The depths are normally between 30 to 70 feet and on rough ground.
I stopped using braid a long while ago and went to mono because i found braid was a bit fierce when reeling a fish in, maybe had something to do with the rods as well, but mono is definitely a gentle fight.
I am buying a new blank, 9-10 foot, something like 4-8oz, 5-10 oz and for a few months now have been thinking of using a spinning reel.
i want to get some further info because when the rod gets built, this determines the ring sizes and where in relation to the spine of the blank the rings are put on.
if i go with a spinner, it willl be a small to medium size, not a great big egg beater. i will be looking at around 175-200 yards of 20 mono, size.
does anyone use spinning reels when at anchor, likes and dislikes over a multiplier.
do they lock up when a decent fish is on
braid or mono preference
do you get much line twist when in shallow water
any particular make and model
Thought i'd ask for any thoughts / opinions, maybe give people something to read while the reports are dead.
