Went out from Amble today for a boat comp on the Natalie Kristen.Fishing was a bit slow, but some good cod and pollack were caught.
Boat is excellent and the skipper really helpful, tried behind the island first picked a few fish up,mainly cod, wrasse and pollack, before moving towards Cresswell Skeers and eventually onto the Skeers themselves.Other people on the boat caught far more than me,but all in all it was a good day.Drift was a bit strong but the wind played more than its part.Lost 21 Leads!!!!
In total there was only a small percentage of fish kept, with the majority returned safely to hopefully grow for next year.
Biggest fish were a cod about 6lb and pollack about the same. The stamp of the pollack were exceptional, and were taking head hooked ragworm fished on a boom.
The comp is based on a catch, measure and release system so,fish that were just size, were all returned.
