bigdaz, I feel your pain m8 - the ****y little comment about the braid has done it for me. £10 for rod hire is a liberty anyway IMO. I for one will not be spending my money on Wildcard, especially after the skippers arsy little comebacks.

As many of us who own boats on this site have not yet said anything regarding this thread, i dont know either of the people involved, however to me it seems like the original poster is miffed cos not a lot was caught ( it happens ), however the trip had the opertunity to possible fill the boat with loads of good fish from the new wrecks......had this have been the case the skipper would have been a hero and the post would have been completly different.

What most of these posters dont realise is the upkeep and purchase costs of boats, diesel, marina fees and insurance.....if they did they would realise why a charter cost as much money, i would imagine for a trip like the one mentioned the fuel would have been in excess of £ 100 alone, then the skippers wages for the day etc etc, remember this is there job.

I for one dont think that sort of cost is bad for what may have been a trip of a lifetime, even if all the wrecks had been found the skipper cant make the fish feed.

On hind sight the original poster may have been better of going out on one of the smaller boats doing some inshore fishing due to his limited experince, instead of a top offshore boat, in which the skipper has probally invested over £ 150k and as such needs to make a suitable return and living out of his investment.

I have no intention of getting caught up in the dispute between skipper and customer, just wanted to get my own personal opinions across.
