Anyone recomend what gear is needed to catch giant skate as i am going to aban next year with my boat and i need to gear up for the skate

also if anyone else fancies taking there own boat or even getting a crew space for a weeks fishing in the area around oban then get in touch as i am organising a World Sea Fishing Fish and Meet in scotland and so far its looking like it will be a good attendance

      HI sean,

The advice given on the scottish home page is all good stuff.

      You must have the following.

      300 Metres of anchor line.
10kg Bruce anchor ( for my 16 ft boat)
      Plenty of chain on that.
Alderney ring and bouy to lift it all.

If not you WILL drift and be wasting your time.

Also all rods should have a min of 300m of braid as you will be fishing depths up to 500'

I would be happy to lend you a rod or two as buying them for a one off trip can be expensive. Got some rigs as well

      Cheers
