  • Braid Backing???

    Just got some 50lb braid today about time I made the switch and about to load onto reel is it possible to use mono as backing any advice would be great.....

    Hello Ivan, It's ok to put mono on for backing. I hope you are lucky enough to catch a fish that strips you down to it.

      Yeah use the mono backing so your sppol is nice & full.

      The first time, I put the braid on first then filled the spool to the limit with mono. Then wind them off and swap them round. Had the same backing on my reel for years and just change the braid. I know a 180yds of braid will fill the spool.

          I ues mono backing then wrap sparkys tape round it a couple of time and leave a bit mono sticking out to tie the braid to. The tape helps stop the braid biting into the mono and works well
