I think t really depends what you value the most on a reel
Versatility: imo not much needed in our waters as we hardly cast and also the fish dont run against the break. A boat reel only brings the fish up or the empty sinker after a drift
size, weight and handling: if you are more a shadder you dont want a Senator type big one
1 speed vs 2-speed: I like my 2 speed saltist, because I reel in super fast after the wreck has passed and when I have a fish, I can reel him up in a much friendlier ratio
build quality: funnily enough, a messy angler like me, who leaves the reel on the boat and does not look well after them needs the better build and not the one who carries the reel in a cotton cloth to the boat, rinses them at home, blowdries and oils after a 10 hr fishing trip. My reels are full of macky scales. I neeeeeed a Saltist
my recommendation is a Saltist LD 2 speed or all the Saltists
not bad are the Shimano range but they have dodgy bearings
