  • New reel

I bought a Penn Squall last season...great I thought, looks bling and first few trips out it was a dream

Problem is the anti reverse is REALLY flakey...!!!

So I had to fall back on the trusty TLD!

...Soooo, do I buy myself another TLD or try another brand??

    Any suggestions?

    Ooh a new vid!

Both big money reels...but not as put off by the cost as i usually am owing to the fact that it'll get used to death!

That's the way I look at it Tony, we could go out drinking / clubbing every week but we don't so treat yourself.
          Cheers, Keith.

Are you not a touch old for clubbing Keith?

Depends what type of club had a few in the club after the match.

Mind, you could be right, I nearly lost it with an ignorant, annoying p@@@k who was blocking the bar as I tried to pass carrying three pints.
              Cheers, Keith.

I’ve had one or two problems with a range of shimano reels and so don’t hold them in such high esteem as some people do. There’re good but not great.
My favourite boat reel is a Penn 320LD, running as smoothly as the day I bought it and with much abuse and minimal care.

What’s up with the Squall’s anti-reverse? Could it just need a service or is it more terminal?

The anti reverse is this tiny little clicker that doesnt always click back into place

On some reels it is a sprung mechanism...in the Squall it seems to rely on physics

It seems to st working when cold and damp...which is a bit of a bind considering the conditions it's used in!!

Will try and figure out how to cure its foibles...I'm busy trying to build up the courage to click on the check out button for a Snowbee 10

Only down fall of the 10 is the amount of line it holds is a bit limited for deep offshore fishing if the drift is a bit swift.

                          Will hold off until March

Two reasons...birthday month and the season won't be starting until at least then

Easter comes early this year too!
