if the engine revs were still increasing, but you weren't going any faster......

not 100% on the DT40, suspect it might be the prop hub.

been a while since I tinkered with one, but whip the prop off, inside the hub of the prop is a thick rubber bush, the idea being its there to absorb an sudden shocks the prop gets if you clip anything, the rubber can perish and break down so it end up spinning inside the hub of the prop, at low revs the torque is enough for it to keep hold, but as the revs/torque increases it starts to slip

the cure is probably a new prop, there's a couple of places that will recon, balance a fit a new hub bush, will see if I can find a link/address

spun propellor hubs are pretty common, especially if its getting on a bit, can be repaired though

you can see the rubber bit in the pic of this one

i have had a bit of a play with the prop when i span it there was a slight noise so i took off the prop and investagated i couldnt find the hub inside it just the splines the prop slides onto so i put the prop back on and span it again and the noise was gone my mate told me to put the engine in gear {not started} and spin the prop so i did and there was defently resistance so hopefully its all sorted im going to take it down the river to test it i will let you kno how i get on

              thanks for all advice
